April is National Distracted Driving Awarness Month
14-023
Posted Date: 4/2/2014

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The purpose of this campaign is to reduce the number of traffic collisions that are caused by distracted driving and the harm that result. The San Francisco Police Department is participating in this campaign in collaboration with the California Office of Traffic Safety and the California Highway Patrol. Our primary means of participating will be through our efforts to educate the public to prevent the behavior and to take enforcement action if the behavior does occur. San Francisco Police Officers will be focusing on speeding, texting while driving and driving a vehicle while on a mobile phone violators. Motorists are reminded to abide by all rules of the road to ensure we all do our part to have safer highways and streets. “Motorists are reminded to put your mobile phone down and pay attention to the roadway and not be a distracted driver. Distracted drivers will be greeted by San Francisco Police officers who remain committed to the mission of this campaign”, said San Francisco Police Commander Mikail Ali of the MTA/Traffic Division.
