Officer Injured by Gunfire in the Mission District
Posted Date: 3/8/2014

At approximately 2:45 PM today, San Francisco Police officers in the Mission District were dispatched to a malicious mischief call on the 1300 block of Florida Street. Officers located a vehicle matching the description involved in the call for service and stopped the vehicle. The officers attempted to make contact with the occupant in the vehicle. While the driver officer was approaching the vehicle, the vehicle began to back up towards the officers. The officer on the passenger side fired several rounds at the vehicle shattering the glass fearing for his and his partner’s lives. The vehicle fled the area. The officer found his partner on the driver’s side of the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. The San Francisco Fire Department arrived on scene, rendered aid and the officer was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The officer is 28 years old and has been in the Department for six years. He is expected to survive from his injuries. The suspect vehicle was located unoccupied in Daly City. San Francisco Police and a number of agencies from the area assisted in a search of the area for the suspect. The suspect was not located in the search. We want to thank the San Francisco Fire Department, San Francisco General Hospital for providing medical care to the officer. We also want to thank all the allied agencies that assisted with the search in Daly City. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call San Francisco Police.
