Both victims were walking in the early morning hours between 3:00 am and 6:30 am. when they were attacked from behind. A struggle ensued and the victims were sexually assaulted and then robbed of their belongings in both incidents. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction with the victims items.

Attached are photos of surveillance video which captured the person of interest.

Residents and visitors can be pro-active in helping to ensure safety by heeding some safety tips:

• Always be alert to your surroundings. Be wary of a stranger deliberately approaching you or following you to your car. Have your keys in your hand as you approach your vehicle so there is minimum delay in getting inside.
• Remain alert when using electronic devices, such as cell phones, smart phones, MP3 players, and the like, in public. People using these devices tend to be disassociated from their surroundings and are often the target of opportunistic criminals.
• Walk with a family member or friend, especially after dark.
• If someone demands your purse or wallet, surrender it. Resisting may result in bodily harm. Report anything stolen to police immediately.

San Francisco Police Special Victims Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the sexual assault person of interest. Witnesses or persons with information are asked to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or “Text-a-Tip” at TIP411 from their cell phones. Please include “SFPD’ in the beginning of the text message.
