San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect in ATM Robbery of 92-Year-Old Man
San Francisco Police have arrested the suspect in a strong-arm robbery of a 92-year-old San Franciscan man on March 2 at a bank ATM on the 900 block of Stockton Street at approximately 7:30 P.M. Taken into custody was Saaga Saaga, 39, of San Francisco. (The suspect's first and last name is the same)
In this incident, the victim had just withdrawn money from the ATM and was about to remove his ATM card when the suspect approached him from the rear, grabbed his wallet, and pushed him to the pavement before escaping on foot. After viewing surveillance video, officers from Central Station were able to identify the suspect because of numerous prior police contacts. Officers conducted a search of the area that Saaga has frequented and on March 4 at approximately 5:30 P.M. located him in a public parking lot at Jefferson and Mason streets. He was taken into custody without incident.
Saaga was charged with robbery and elder abuse and remains in custody. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury in his fall.
