SAN FRANCISCO POLICE MOURNS THE LOSS OF
FORMER CHIEF ALEX FAGAN
The San Francisco Police Department mourns the loss of former Police Chief Alex Emanuel Fagan, the 37th Chief of Police, who died on November 8, 2010. A vibrant, energetic, and outgoing man, he served the Department for 31 years. Prior to his appointment to Chief, on August 23, 2003, he was assigned to various units during his police career, including Vice Crimes / Narcotics, the Crime Specific Task Force, and the Fiscal and Homicide divisions. He was the Captain at Northern Station immediately prior to his appointment as Assistant Chief on
August 2, 2002.
A memorial service will be held in San Francisco at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Friday,
November 19, 2010 at 10:00 am. The family has requested no media inside the cathedral during the service.
A private viewing will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Attendance at the viewing is by family invitation only.
