SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES PEDESTRIAN SAFETY ENFORCEMENT OPERATION

 

 

 

During the month of September 2010 the San Francisco Police Department's Traffic Company will be conducting Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operations at various locations throughout The City including: the Geary Street corridor, San Bruno Avenue corridor, Bayshore Boulevard, Sixth Street corridor and Cole Valley. These operations will take place during peak traffic times and Officers will focus their enforcement efforts on violations that are the leading causes of pedestrian collisions:

  • Pedestrian right-of-way violations in marked and unmarked cross walks
  • Red light violations
  • Stop sign violations
  • Speed violations

This targeted enforcement operation, funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety,

will complement current pedestrian safety efforts conducted throughout the San Francisco Police Department. These efforts include educational programs, normal patrol enforcement and focused enforcement operations.
