"YOUTH OF THE YEAR WINNER" CONTINUES TO SUCCEED
The Willie Mays Clubhouse at Hunters Point a portion of the San Francisco Boys and Girls Club, announced its “Youth of the Year” winner earlier this year to be Jackie Fuller, 17, of San Francisco. Jackie stated it is her dream to become a lawyer.
When City Attorney Dennis Herrera heard of Jackie’s dream from a member of the San Francisco Police Department-Bayview Station, he took a huge first step toward making Jackie’s dream a reality. The City Attorney’s Office awarded Jackie an internship in their office for the summer of 2010. Jackie’s hard work and strong work ethic in The City Attorney’s Office this past summer, has made her a standout example of a successful youth. Furthermore, she committed herself to the internship knowing that she would be not compensated but would gain experience.
The Bayview Rotary Club heard of Jackie’s achievement and decided to award her a $1,500.00 stipend in recognition of her hard work and dedication. Jackie will be presented with the $1,500.00 check on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 at the weekly 7:30am breakfast meeting at the Southeast Community Center at 1800 Oakdale Ave. The Bayview Rotary Club will present the check to Jackie in person. City Attorney, Dennis Herrera is expected to attend as well as members of the SFPD -Bayview Station.
