19th Annual Kops and Kids Day June 5 (10-061)
Bay Area kids from ages three to 18 will get to bowl free with local police and public safety officers at the 19th annual Kops and Kids family Day on Saturday, June 5, at Serra Bowl, 3301 Junipero Serra Blvd. in Daly City, from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Kids and their families are welcome.
The San Francisco Police Department will join with the Broadmoor, Colma, and Daly City police departments in this event that helps kids become friends with their local law enforcement officers. This event is the largest of its kind and is endorsed by over 25 public safety organizations that include fire and police departments, emergency medical services, and numerous other public safety agencies.
In addition to free bowling for kids every half hour from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., there will be displays of police and fire department equipment, fun activities, and many free raffle prizes.
This event is the kick off for the Kids Bowl Free program. Last summer, over 27,000 kids from 450 schools in the Bay area got to bowl for free. The program continues, starting May 1, with kids entitled to two free games and continuing throughout the summer. Bel Mateo Bowl in San Mateo joins Serra Bowl as the sponsoring facilities.
Mike Leong, Vice President of Bowling Management Group, which manages Serra Bowl and Bel Mateo Bowl, said that, “Our kids’ safety is key. The bowling community wants to help kids enjoy a sport during their vulnerable years.”
