Subject: San Francisco Police Officers To Participate In Memorial Service December 12

Members of the San Francisco Police Department will participate in a nationwide memorial service on Saturday, December 12, as part of the Arlington Wreath Project, Wreaths Across America. The local service will take place at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio at 8:30 A.M. and will include a national moment of silence at 9:00 A.M.. The ceremony will continue with the laying of six wreaths, one for each branch of the armed services and one for POW/MIA service personnel, and will conclude with a short speech by a returning veteran.

The Arlington Wreath Project was started 18 years ago by the Worcester Wreath Company in Maine. This annual event involves placing a holiday wreath on over 5,000 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery to honor and remember this country’s fallen military officers. The memorial service now includes ceremonies at over 400 State and National Cemeteries to honor our country’s fallen service members while remembering those still serving.
