San Francisco Police Arrest Two Suspected Gang Members On Weapons Charges

On Wednesday, March 11, San Francisco police arrested two suspected gang members on weapons charges.

In the first incident, police arrested a suspected Norteño gang member Eduardo Hernandez, 18, of Daly City, on the 3100 block of Mission Street at approximately 2:30 P.M. Two other male suspects, one 18, of Daly City, and one 17, of Colma, were detained and later released.

Plain clothes officers from Ingleside Station observed the suspects on Mission Street and Powers Avenue, in the area where a gang-related shooting had occurred on Tuesday the week before. From prior contact, the officers recognized the three as Norteño gang members. During questioning, police discovered a handgun, loaded with five rounds of ammunition, on Hernandez. Police learned that the gun had been reported stolen.

Hernandez was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possessing stolen property, and participating in criminal street gang activity. He remains in custody.

Later Wednesday, at approximately 6:40 P.M., Gang Task Force plain clothes officers arrested a suspected Choppa City Central gang member, Donnie Bell, 27, on the 1100 block of Scott Street. As officers approached, Bell secreted a handgun he had been carrying under a metal utility box in a stairwell. Police also conducted a search of Bell's residence on the 100 block of Kirkwood Avenue, where they recovered a 9mm. handgun that was hidden under a mattress. Bell, who had been on parole for robbery and had only been released from parole February 25, was charged with a person prohibited from possessing a firearm. Bell remains in custody.
