FAQ

If I am a naturalized citizen, do I need to provide a birth certificate?
If a birth certificate is recoverable we would like to see the document.

Should I send my Certificate of Naturalization papers?
No. Enclose a statement with your background package stating that you have your certificate and that upon request you will bring it to your Background Investigation interview.

I have a High School Diploma from another country, will that meet the educational requirements?
No. All applicants MUST have a U.S. High School Diploma, pass an equivalency test (G.E.D or California High School Proficiency Examination) or have an A.A. or higher degree from an accredited college or university PRIOR to appointment.

I am not a U.S. citizen yet, what do I need to do?
You MUST be a U.S. citizen at the time of appointment to the position. If you have any questions regarding obtaining citizenship, you may refer to the following website: http://uscis.gov
